The design ambition of Double Dipping part 1 was to study the relationship between he sculptural qualities of a 3D object, in this case, Buzz Lightyear, and the compositional qualities of collage. Then, the composition was sliced to create areas of ambiguity. Finally, CNC routing and vacuum forming was used as a means of unifying the composition into a single continuous surface. Double Dipping part 2, focused on robotic water transfer printing as a means to construct a relationship between 2D graphics and the 3D form. A rendering was produced which was then printed on hydro-graphic paper and then the robotic arm was used to dip the 3D form into the graphic bath. This produced a mis-registered textured object.
